AFR Highlights Sir Michael Hintze's Insights on the Possibility of a Global Trade War

The Australian Financial Review (AFR) reports on CQS chief executive Sir Michael Hintze’s insights in the wake of recent worries of a global trade war. He tells AFR that China will come out on top if a trade war does ensue:

“It's not clear, all I can say is the biggest winner out of this in my view will be China...The biggest steel producers that push into the US are Canada and Mexico and the EU. China is way down the pecking order ... this is not about China, this is about Trump's election promise on steel and aluminium."

When asked how investors should respond to recent geopolitical uncertainties, Sir Michael commented, "you invest on the themes and trends and trade the noise," while cautioning that the probability of a trade war is real.
